Expansion of community colleges to train foreign technical personnel who will be working in the root industry positioned in basic processing such as molding, coinage and welding. Department of Industrial commerce and resource is planning on expanding from 3 community colleges to 8 colleges in order to educate foreign technical personnel.

The government has appointed 3 colleges (Choson Natural Science college, Gae Myung culture college and Choson college as root industry foreign technical personnel training colleges. 23 foreigner will enter this year and will be employed in the root industry by the second half of next year. They can employ trained and ready technical personnel with experience any time of the year. Those who have worked for more than 5 years are qualified to register for permanent residency nationality registration.

Along with this, Department of Industry, National institute for National Education, Choson Natural Science college, Gae Myung culture college and Choson college hosted a briefing session on the 17th of this month at Seoul Jong-ro gu National institute for National Education. Around 200 foreign exchange students have participated who are currently studying in Korea. Each colleges presented their technical personnel employment support programs and bachelors program.

[글로벌 코리아]뿌리산업 외국인 인력 양성…5년 넘게 일하면 영주권

금형·주조·용접 등 제조업 기초공정을 담당하는 뿌리산업에 종사할 외국인 기술인력을 양성하기 위한 전문대학을 확대한다.

산업통상자원부는 뿌리산업 외국인 기술인력 양성대학을 현재 3개에서 올 상반기 중 8개로 확대할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

정부는 지난해 조선이공대, 계명문화대, 조선대 등 3개 대학을 뿌리산업 외국인 기술인력 양성대학으로 선정했다. 올해 외국인 23명이 입학해 내년 하반기부터 뿌리기업에 채용될 것으로 보인다.

이들을 고용한 뿌리기업은 지식과 경험을 갖춘 숙련 기술인력을 기간 제한없이 계속 고용할 수 있다. 외국인은 5년 이상 근무하면 영주권이나 국적 신청자격이 주어진다.

아울러 산업부와 국립국제교육원, 조선이공대, 계명문화대, 조선대는 공동으로 서울 종로구 국립국제교육원에서 입학설명회를 17일 열었다. 국내에서 어학연수 중인 외국인 학생 200여명이 참가했다. 설명회에서 양성 대학별로 뿌리산업 외국인 기술인력 고용지원 프로그램과 양성대학별 학사 프로그램에 대한 소개를 했다.
