서울시가 다음 달부터 시청 지하에 자리한 시민청의 월요일 휴관제를 폐지해 1년 중 신정과 설·추석 당일을 제외하고 상시 개방한다. 시민청은 2013년 1월 개관한 이래 그동안 320만여 명, 하루 평균 5000명 이상이 찾았다. 시민 만족도도 94.2%로 집계됐다.

월요일 휴관제가 폐지되면 연간 휴관일은 기존 53일에서 3일로 대폭 줄어든다.

시는 시민 수요와 지하철 시청역, 을지로입구역과 연결된 통로로 시청에 들어오는 시민의 편의를 고려해 월요일에도 시민청을 개장하기로 하고 관련 조례를 개정했다.

시는 월요일 퇴근 시간 전후로 1호선 시청역 4번 출구와 시민청 입구 사이 분수공원에서 '활력 콘서트'를 여는 등 월요일 특화 프로그램도 운영할 계획이다.

시는 또 서울산업진흥원(SBA) 본사가 상암동으로 이전하고 비어 있는 강남 SBA컨벤션센터 건물 1∼2층에 '동남권역 제2시민청'을 8월 개관한다고 밝혔다.

시는 동남권역 시민청을 시작으로 앞으로 시내 곳곳의 빈 공공건물을 활용해 권역별 지역시민청을 조성할 계획이다. 이와함께 시민청에서 열리는 유료 행사를 무료로 이용하는 대상자를 외국인 주민, 다문화 가족, 새터민까지 확대하기로 했다.

Seoul City Hall Citizen's office opens on Monday starting next month

The citizen's office which is located below the city hall is going to abolish the closure policy and open all year long except on the Chinese New Year's day, Lunar New Year's day and Korean Thanksgiving Day. Ever since the opening of the citizen's office on January 2013, more than 5000 citizens visited a day which adds up to a total of 3.2 million people. Also, the satisfactory rate was reported to be 94.2%.

If the Monday holiday system is to be abolished, the total number of holidays throughout the year decreases from 53 days to 3 days.

Seoul has considered the fact that people would be able to enter the city hall more conveniently if the entrances connected to the City Hall station and Eul-Jiro Yipgu station are to be opened. Therefore, Seoul has decided to open the Citizen's office on Mondays.

Seoul is also planning to start special programs like "Energy Concert" at the fountain park between the City Hall line number 1 exit number 4 and the citizen's office entrance on Mondays.

Also, Seoul is planning to open the Second citizen's office in August at the SBA convention center 1,2 floor due to the relocation of the Seoul Business Administration headquarters.

Starting with the South eastern region citizen's office, Seoul is planning on establish more citizen's office throughout the city in public buildings. Along with this, people participating in charged events of any kind will be expanded to foreign citizens, multi-cultural families and North Koreans.
