한국인 남성과 결혼해 국내에 살고 있는 결혼 이민 여성의 저체중아 출산율이 한국인 부부에 비해 약 1.3배가량 높은 것으로 나타났다.

고려대 구로병원 산부인과 조금준 교수팀은 한국인 부부 88만8447쌍과 엄마가 외국인인 3만6024쌍의 저체중아 출산율을 비교 조사한 결과, 이같이 나타났다고 밝혔다.

연구보고서를 보면 결혼이민 여성은 언어표출과 의사소통의 어려움으로 문화 부적응, 가사 부담과 자녀양육, 가족관계 스트레스 등에 시달렸다. 특히 임신 중에는 출신 국가의 음식을 접하기 어려워 영양섭취 불균형이 일어나는 것으로 분석됐다.

특히 취약지역에 사는 결혼이민 여성의 비율이 10.6%로 전국 평균 4.0%보다 2.6배가량 높았다. 이 때문에 상당수 결혼이민 여성은 임신 전과 후에 충분한 건강관리를 받지 못하는 것으로 분석됐다. 산부인과에 도착하더라도 의료진과 의사소통이 잘되지 않아 원활한 진료가 이뤄지지 않는 것도 문제점으로 지적됐다.

조금준 교수는 "우선 분만 취약지역에 대한 지원사업을 강화하고 응급상황시 거점병원으로의 신속한 이송시스템 구축하는 게 급선무"라고 말했다.

It is reported that immigrant women living in Korea who are married to korean men have 1.3 times higher possibility of carrying a low birth weight infant than Korean women. According to the research done by Jo Guem Jun professor's team of obstetrics in Korea University Guro hospital, There were 888,447 Korean mothers carrying a low birth weight infants while foreign mothers showed a lot less, which is 36,024. Research has shown that females among married immigrants were going through dramatic stress due to communication difficulty, pressure of housework, trouble raising children and difficulty with family relationship. Especiall, women had difficulty taking in sufficient amount of nutrition during pregnancy period because they couldn't eat food from their home country. Especially, 10.6% were immigrant women in undeveloped regions, which is 26% higher than other places throughout the country. For this reason, pregnant women were not provided sufficient amount of nutrition during and after their pregnancy period. Also, another problem was that they couldn't get the proper treatment even at the hospital because of their incapability to communicate in Korean. Professor Jo Guem Jun stated that the most urgent task to be done is to come up with quick transportation method to th nearest hospital in case of an emergency and enforce the supporting business of those women in undeveloped areas.
